A potted history:

Marie started in photography when charged with taking the family holiday snaps at the age of 7.  Several cut off heads, a double exposed film and a dropped camera later, she had passed the initiation and began snapping away with an old Olympus Trip.

At university, she became a photojournalist for the college paper, receiving a 15-minute baptism-by-fire induction in the dark room before gettting pitched in, processing and printing her submissions to the fortnightly deadlines of the pictures desk.  With strong composition as her ally, she continued to shoot using her Olympus Trip without the knowledge of the photo editor…and got away with it.  Seeing her plight, a friend gifted her her first SLR, a Pentax with muddy focus, a plastic lens and a £15 flash gun.  This was enough to help launch her into music photography and she was soon published.

A medium format, Nikon manual camera and several Polaroid cameras later, she was given the most extraordinary present of a top-of-the-range professional SLR camera, which springboarded her into documentary photography.  She was soon recording stories around the world and at home, seeing what there was for the camera to see.

In 2007, there was an unscheduled hiatus for a few years after she was involved in a car crash (not her fault!), but she is now back behind the camera.  Now working mainly on digital, she is still as in love with documentary photography as ever, using her skills to record the story of her clients’ wedding day together with a new passion for fashion photography!

Whilst she loves her pixels and Photoshop, She still misses the magic of her F5, old school bokeh and film grain.
